Just a splash of wit
It’s not boring blah, blah, blah, online talking heads that put you to sleep. It’s engaging, pushing you beyond the obvious to discover things from a unique perspective.
Think of it as a casual gathering of friends from the comfort of your home sofa or in the privacy of your office.
The last year has challenged each of us and our organizations in ways we could never have imagined. Now it’s time to exercise our imaginations to discover useful strategies to help us reemerge stronger and smarter. We would say membership has its privileges but that’s locked down already.
It's up to you!
Each month we select a book to delve into, host a monthly book jam session (jam is so 1993 but you get the idea) to recap the book, moderate a discussion of the book’s content and identify practical applications. Hardcover, paperback, Kindle, iPad, etc.; whatever your preferred reading medium happens to be works fine. We link you to sources so you can easily get your hands and eyes on the reading material. The monthly book jams provide a casual place for discovery and discussion.
Let us summarize.
After the monthly information session, we summarize and sort the high points and edit out the low ones. You can pocket your own step-by-step cheat sheet for applying the best notions we uncover.
We know brevity is the soul of wit so we will be succinct when we boil down information for you.

Our virtual “meet ups” let you get to know colleagues better and grow your contact network. PS Exchange will regularly spotlight members, their communities, and organizations.
Who knows, we may profile a member who is the perfect match (not a dating match; that’s a different website) for a project or problem you could benefit from with a sidebar chat.
Lisa and Chris! They are the ideal duo to lead this kind of exploration. Their combined years of public service and practical municipal experience will ensure a fun and informative adventure.
I have worked with Chris and Lisa over the course of my career. Their unconventional styles push the envelope on what we’ve seen before in the usual workshop material.
PS Exchange! What a great way to assemble folks on-line to learn, share, and devise solutions to today’s life issues.
I don’t waste time anymore on the same old webinar professional development format. Their playful approach keeps me guessing what’s going to happen next.
Each session kicks off with a welcome and introductions. Then Lisa and Chris will jump in and launch the discussion with a quick overview of the material. Think of them as “discussion sherpas.” We will provide a brief summary to establish a common jumping off place for the group and then toss out topical questions to spark dialogue and reflection.
The same time each month at noon. The specific date will be announced with our Exchange Alerts. Sign up to receive updates.
Questions will likely range from the obvious, “What did you think? to “How can we apply this in our city?”. Our goal is to encourage clarifying, thought provoking, and applicable questions.
Anyone who has paid the yearly subscription.
Each Zoom session will have a first-come-first-serve maximum number of 20 participants. If you miss the first cut-off limit then you’ll be placed on a waiting list until twenty more public service leaders join. Our goal is to keep the number of subscribers in each monthly session small to ensure lively discussions. Not to worry. If we have reached our limit with the first cohort, you'll be placed on a waiting list until others join to create a second one.
The cost is $300 for a 12-month subscription. You can pay online, by check, or money order.
We do not offer refunds. For a little more than $25 a month (about the cost of a double espresso, extra foam,a splash of Kahlua, and a bagel), you can uncover idea gems, participate in 60 minutes of interesting conversation, and have tangible takeaways.
