“Street art is nothing else but urban poetry that catches someone’s eye…” — Renowned street artist Christian Guémy
On a recent Zoom call, we talked about some of our favorite trips (back when we could travel). Lisa was inspired by the Crystal Bridges public art installations in northwest Arkansas. I shared my enjoyment of the visual surprises found in the abstract statues waiting to be discovered in hidden courtyards and plazas around Santa Fe. It occurred to us that we were both moved by accessible art available to anyone strolling city streets.
We found public art in the form of murals to enliven local street life. It offers an imaginative urban respite of ideas, emotion, and storytelling; a visual surprise for our enjoyment on a 50-foot brick wall. We enjoy, and we hope you do, too, the visual art and community storytelling found in city murals.
Murals and street art represent inspiration, creativity, innovation, and experience sharing; all goals of the Public Service Exchange. There are many inspiring murals in Arkansas and Texas; we selected just a few for our homepage. There are so many more, so we created The Mural Gallery to house and exhibit some of our favorites.
Are there any cool, uplifting, or unique murals in your community? Have you seen some that made you pause and soak them in? We are happy to showcase them, too.
Feel fee to snap a pic and email it to info@publicserviceexchange.com. Stay tuned. We’ll start posting your hometown favorites soon.
